TSS Problem 3

Published: July 26, 2016

Last night we ran problem 3 in the TSS. The reason I’ve referred to it as spin the airport is because we are using the opposite flow of the airport, not the usual we typically use. Airports typically have multiple runways which can be used in either direction depending on the winds. We practice using the “other” runways here at AAC for a few days just for familiarity purposes. Today will be the last day we use the 10s (as opposed to the 28s) except for the windshift day where half the problem will be on the 10s.

The problem itself was very boring, and straightforward. Only a few traps set up in it by the designers of the problems, and overall the traffic was very slow. I pretty fair mix of VFR/IFR and departures/arrivals.

I certainly wasn’t feeling on the top of my game last night, certainly a case of the Monday’s. The whole night felt off. Tonight I have 3 local runs (yay, I think). Local runs are good because they’re the hardest during the PAs. Getting comfortable with them early will hopefully prove successful in the end during PAs.

Finally, the class ahead of us starts their PAs on Friday, finishing next Tuesday. Of course, this always throws a weird vibe into the air where everyone freaks out about PAs and so on. I’m trying not to think about it, so I’m not going to go on and on writing about the PAs, because I’m not worried about it. More to come on these in two short weeks once I’m running them!

Finally, July is almost over! Where does the time go?
