TSS Problem 7

Published: July 30, 2016

Yesterday was a very easy problem in the labs. Much easier than 5-6, for sure. I believe this is because it was wind shift day! So exciting, starting on the west flow and moving into the east flow at the end of the problem (about half way through).

Spinning the airport around is usually more coordinated than they made it in this problem, which is why I think due to the way they set it up they purposely make it have less traffic before the wind shift occurs.

I finally had some instructors give me some okay feedback, still nothing outstanding, but at least it wasn’t totally disheartening. All three of my local runs were good, and I didn’t have any major errors on any of them. Mostly little stuff, calling Barons Bonanzas and visa versa. Missed a heavy or two also, and forgot to switch a guy to departure in time.

The other day we had an instructor we’ve never had in our labs before come in and give us a 2 minute lecture on how he thinks our class isn’t taking things seriously or something – most of us were pretty confused by this. We’ve never really even seen this guy around, so we aren’t sure where that feedback came from.

I also had the pleasure of working with my favorite (sarcasm) instructors again – the two who seem to think it’s funny when we mess up and stand in the back of the room and ridicule us. Oh well, it’s kinda fun to laugh with them and throw them off your game.

Next week we will work our way up to problem 12, starting from 8 on Monday, which are supposed to be varying complexity and travel levels. I’m pretty excited to keep pushing forward, but even more excited to see where this crazy journey takes me.
