Just Keep Swimming

Today was a pretty interesting in class. We only spent a few hours in the classroom, and spent the rest of the time in the lab learning about what we talked about in the class. It was the tabletop lab, which is literally a tabletop cut out in the shape of our imaginary airport with 3D cut airplanes we can carry around and practice with. I have mixed feelings about it, but I can see where it would be helpful for someone with zero experience to learn on.

Most of the lessons today had to do with VFR (Visual Flight Rules) arrivals, departures, and runway separation. I feel like I have a pretty good handle on this. I guess we’ll see how the test goes tomorrow morning, I have the phraseology and lab part of it pretty much down already I think, so I just have to make sure I have everything down for this test. The rest of the test consists of Low Level Wind Shear and wind readout systems, Local Control, and VFR rules.

Only two more full days in the classroom, I’m getting pretty stoked to be in lab, but had a realization today that tabletop labs may not be as exciting as I once thought, but more on that later, I’ve got to get back to studying.
