Pre-RTF ATC Update

So, per the usual, I’ve failed at updating blogs. Here’s the quick breakdown of what’s happened since my last update (if you want to catch up from the start, you can use the “archives” links on the side of this page (or the bottom, if your screen size is smaller) - feel free to go back as far as you’d like.

Since my last update, I’ve certified in the tower for the ATC facility I work at (remember, I direct airplanes in the sky and keep them safely separated, not play with flashlights on the ramp). This happened in April of this year. Around the same time as my tower certification, I also attended an OJTI (on-the-job-instructor) course, so that after I am fully facility certified (that is, complete radar training), I can start training other trainees (since I’ll no longer be one, if and when that day comes).

OJTI Class took place at another facility, not mine, with a group of about 25 students, in early April. Since that class and my tower (local control) certification, I’ve been awaiting my return to Oklahoma City for RTF (Radar Training) at the academy, and after completing that month-long course, I’ll finish training at my facility.

In the meantime, I’ve just been catching up on projects around the house, at work, seasoning (learning more) on the positions I’m already certified on, and finally, working on preparing for my radar training.

Next, on to the OKC Round 2 blogs.
