Not a whole lot to report today. We are back on mornings (much to my dismay) so that was a rude awakening today, but I still made it on time to class (not everyone did…heh).
Today had some weird stuff in the problem, but the traffic was extremely light, despite our instructors claiming the traffic count today was up in the problem. I did notice that the end of the problem ended with planes still in the air, which usually wasn’t the case in the lower level problems.
Today we lost our “D-BRITE” (radar display) for around 12 minutes during the problem, so you had to be able to look out the window and know where your planes were, and not rely on the DBRITE (like most of us probably do!). This part of the problem really wasn’t too bad. Both of my local runs went very well, and I only had minor mistakes. I did have one wake turbulence error in the second run, but it was because I tried to push the envelope a little too tight and got burned, so I learned my lesson!
My first local run also had a pretty good screw up in it, where I heard a wrong parking location which resulted in me having two nose-to-nose situations on TXY I... so I learned my lesson there too. Totally my own case of the Monday’s and not listening to the computer correctly.
Class overall seemed to do pretty well today, from what I monitored and observed. Tomorrow we run problem 9, which is the night problem (literally – happens at night). Some people say this problem is similar to an easy-level PA (performance assessment) problem, so I’ll be paying attention to the traffic count tomorrow.
The instructors have said tomorrow’s problem is pretty easy also, but things ramp up on Wednesday. I’m pretty excited for the challenge, personally.
The class that is ahead of us graduates tomorrow, and picks their facilities on Wednesday. We expect to get our list of facilities later this week. You can read more about that process, here.
Alright…off to find a washing machine to get my laundry done in, and then some catching up on Netflix before bedtime.
